 A meaningful tradition in my culture is making the girls in the family clean,cook and keep everything good.It mirrors how the mother in the story wants her daughter to be a good woman and to clean and cook and stuff like that.

 Today in class we read the girl by Jamaica Kincaid and went over it.I learned from the story that parents in that culture don't want there dauthers to be seen as sluts and tell them how to do everything step by step so they can look good and not be presented in a bad way.
